It's obvious on a whitetail to show some bottom lip. On a muledeer I've seen the lip completely tucked and exposed. My first mount the judge said that the bottom lip on my muledeer was showing to much, on my second deer last year, it wasn't showing enough. What's everyone's input on blacktail? A lot of the reference I have seem to not show it as much. Thanks.

Cha, this stuff can be very frusterating to a competator, it is six to one and a half a dozen to another. Each Judge has their own opionion on what they like to see. There are pro's and con's to mounting with the lip showing and completly tucked. Neither way is wrong but the Pro's to tucking a lip completely is you dont have to finish the lip. Con's you have to finish it, simple huh? not as easy done as siad. I like to leave a little lip showing about half of the lower lip, and tuck it enough on the sides so that it does not extend past the edge of the nose pad. I finish with a mod poge and paint but my finish work sucks so I always get dinged Please excuse typo's and spelling i'm not good at that either :-)
